Susan Feagin

Susan K. Feagin is President of John Brown Limited, Inc., a boutique fundraising firm that specializes in campaign planning and strategy; major, principal, and planned gifts; board development; and fundraiser staff training. She brings over ten years of consulting experience for a range of schools and non-profits, as well as decades of fundraising and campaign experience in higher education. When she talks to groups of new fundraisers, she enjoys tracing her trajectory from her initial development job as Columbia University’s first full-time prospect researcher.

On her third stint at Columbia, she served as Executive Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations from 2002 through 2010, overseeing a $4 billion campaign that raised over $6 billion. She was Vice President for Development at the University of Michigan from 1998 to 2002. At Harvard University in the 1990’s she was the first Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and then served as Director of University Development.

Susan received a BA from Columbia’s School of General Studies, where she now serves as Chair of the Board of Visitors. In 2011 she received the Columbia Alumni Medal for Distinguished Service.

Susan’s current and recent clients include small liberal arts colleges and large private and public universities. Her favorite CASE conference experiences have been working with chief development officers. She is very excited about the CDO Network.
